Engaging Non-Traditional Partners
While better information and market intelligence are fundamental to achieving equilibrium between the risk/return for investors and cost/benefit for firms, an inhospitable enabling environment will drive the cost of capital beyond the reach of many entrepreneurs.
M&AMG counters this problem by partnering with additional sources of grants and technical assistance who wish to support entrepreneurial development in emerging markets as part of their coordinated support for social, political, and economic growth of target countries. Institutions such as the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) can offer access to capital priced below prevailing rates; Foundations and donor institutions can offer technical support as well as often providing direct grants to smaller firms in our target industries’ value-chain to promote a broader impact of economic growth within an economy and which directly support the firms in which we invest. The consensus that allows these partnerships to form is a fundamental belief in, and support of, a
M&AMG’s differentiation from other financial intermediaries is the capital coordination of non-traditional partners who support at least one of the three pillars of M&AMG’s program:
- Reducing the cost of capital to entrepreneur firms
- Improving the likelihood of direct success by the entrepreneur firms we support
- Improving the broader social and economic environment in which our target firms operate
Social Responsibility
Our clients and the audiences they serve are our greatest asset. M&AMG suggests a philanthropy component to its business and marketing plans to encourage our clients to serve others through their success. We emphasize youth education in the music sector, special appearances, internships, volunteer activities, and scholarships through their companies and employees. This emphasis on social and civic concerns in society foster part of M&AMG’s guiding principles.
Leveraging Public and Private Partnerships
The company’s strategy of investing in multiple regions will present operating challenges in executing funding. M&AMG will address these operational challenges by creating key partnerships with public and private institutions that are uniquely placed to address these challenges.
Key partnerships would include:
- In Country Media Development Organizations
- In Country Investment Organizations
- Country Relevant Legal Counsel
- Individual Domain Experts
M&AMG will leverage its existing and growing global network of public- and private-sector partners to access local knowledge; secure introductions to leaders in business communities, government, and donor communities around the world; and to assemble the appropriate financial, strategic, and legal resources to ensure resounding business success.
Once potential deals have been identified and packaged by the firm, they will be targeted at the most appropriate investors for the deal. M&AMG will combine financial, strategic and donor resources to complement the core competencies of the individual business model to maximize the financial success of the business venture and its ability to act as a showcase for other similar investments in a given sector. This demonstration effect is a key differentiator of M&AMG’s approach and is viewed as critical to creating a pipeline of transformational transactions.
